3M™ PELTOR™ ComTac™ VI

The 3M PELTOR ComTac VI is a tactical communication headset designed for use in law enforcement and military operations. They achieve audio overmatch by leveraging several novel to market technologies. 

The NIB function, or "Natural Interaction Behavior," enables easy communication with other ComTac VI headsets in proximity. When the NIB function is on, team members within a 10 meter radius will be automatically connected for full duplex communication. The headset also includes a VOX mode, which allows for hands-free communication in loud environments (above 80db). Alternatively, the PTT mode can be used for manual control of voice transmit. This is accomplished using a low power internal radio. 

The ComTac VI also includes the "Mission Audio Profile," which offers four listening modes for enhanced auditory awareness: Observation, Patrol, Conversation, and Comfort. The classic mode is designed to mimic the legacy style situational awareness from previous versions. 

The headset comes with detachable comms microphone, low battery warning, and a voice-guided configuration menu. The  3M PELTOR COMTAC VI also includes an earplug mode, which maintains situational awareness when used in combination with earplugs. The headset will automatically power off after two hours of inactivity to conserve battery life. It uses NATO wired U-174 downleads.

With Single Comms variants hear radio audio in both ears, Dual Comms variants can be set for one radio one ear or one radio both ears via the balance options in the menu.
